It’s About Thyme is a deli and butchers, in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. Many of our products are available for nationwide delivery.
We are passionate about the Island, its produce and its producers. We are also passionate about what people eat and where it comes from; provenance.
Sarah and Scarlett are ready to serve you wonderful Italian Bristot Coffee, locally made and homemade cakes and snacks, such as scotch eggs and Bad Boy sausage rolls, pork pies and pasties. We also have a small menu of foods made to order, such as toasted sourdough sandwiches made with The Lost Mill bread, which you can also buy in the shop. Fruit and veg, local and small batch made cheese, local products and other foods and organic products by small producers around the country and the world are also available for your to take home. We are a farm shop on a high street.
Located in the Solent, the Isle of Wight benefits from a mild climate (more sunshine than any other place in England), fertile land, good air quality and a longer growing season. With many microclimates the Island is ideal for growing and raising. Famous for tomatoes, garlic, asparagus, cherries and apricots, the Island is still England’s best kept secret when it comes to food.
The Island’s milder climate and clean, sea air as well as it’s diverse geology are ideal for farming. Covered in rolling down lands and surrounded by chalky cliffs the Island has become a food lovers heaven.
We make our own sausages and burgers by hand and cure our own bacon.
We have many creations that are unique to us – It’s About Thyme Bangers and Sunny Island handmade sausages, as well as your favourites – minted lamb croquettes with melting middle Garlic or Mushroom Sauce, handmade burgers (beef, lamb, dry aged rib, Thai turkey), summer kebabs, chicken kyivs, as well as roasting joints and prepared meats. We are often asked by visitors and non permanent residents if we deliver off the Island and now we do. All of your favourite Isle of Wight producers and more in one shop.
We are very selective about what we sell and who we buy from. We do genuinely care about the welfare of the animals that come to us and we also care about what our customers eat. We also use many local products in our creations, such as Isle of Wight Tomatoes and Briddlesford Butter.
We will slowly, but surely, be bringing you some recipes to try with the produce we have available.
