Organic Gluten Free Green Pesto 180g by Prima Italia.
Produced and packaged in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy, known as the Italian food valley, using ingredients sourced as locally as possible to limit mileage. Emilia-Romagna encompasses Modena and Parma, the capital being Bologna, all regions well known for their food. (Although I’m not sure there are any Italian regions NOT known for their food!) Emilia-Romagna is also home to the automative trade of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati, making it one of the wealthiest regions in Europe.
Despite this sauces’ wealthy origins pesto originates from Liguria, known for its very simple dishes, so this would also pair with our Gluten Free Tagliolini, which hails from the same region.
Alternatively, pair Organic Gluten Free Green Pesto with a textured pasta like conchiglioni or Italian Flag Farfalle or Trofie, which you can jazz up with some griddled vegetables. See our bruschetta idea below. Green pesto tends to lend itself to green vegetables.
Try warming through the pesto and dressing some steamed green beans with that and some preserved lemons or toasted chopped mixed nuts or almonds, which we offer in our deli salad counter.
For a spring bruschetta mix Green Pesto with ricotta, spread on toasted slices of Sourdough Baguette and top with griddled spring vegetables, like asparagus, courgette, baby leeks and crushed fresh peas.
Pesto is a great flavour variation for a sandwich with mozzarella and roast Mediterranean vegetables.
