Traditional pickle with a mixture of vegetables in a sweet and spicy mustard sauce. Perfect with a traditional Ploughman’s lunch or eat with Gunpowder Oak Smoked Cheddar, meats, salads or pies. Handcrafted in small batches using traditional open pans. A must have for your cold Christmas turkey and ham.
Highfield Piccalilli Ingredients;
Vegetables in varying proportions 55% (silverskin onions, celery, cauliflower florets, carrots, courgettes, green beans, red peppers), cider vinegar, sugar, honey, corn starch (thickener), ground cumin, yellow mustard seed, mustard powder, chilli, turmeric, spices.
The word ‘Piccalilli‘ is thought to have been derived from Indian pickle. The first ever mention of piccalilli was in 1772, but the exact story in unclear.
